Although I don't disagree that there may be some undertreated chronic pain out there, prescription medication abuse, diversion, and misuse is such a huge problem in my practice and in the country as a whole that I feel we are on dangerous ground proclaiming that we are undertreating pain (“Report: Chronic Pain Is Public Health Problem,” Family Practice News, December 2009, p. 7).
